WOW Factor: High-Contrast Backsplash
Your kitchen is the heart of your home, and it’s also one of the most challenging and time-consuming parts of your home to renovate. Our friend Denise, the owner and creator of Tan Bar in London, sought a kitchen that reflected her bold personality, elegant style, and excellent taste. She wanted a WOW factor without kitsch, and carefully chose two contrasting tiles to create a stunning backsplash that would stand the test of time. Take a look at these beautiful photos by Mackenzie Pearce Photography, to see how Denise combined her high-contrast tiles to create drama, elegance, and classic appeal. With the help of our fantastic design and installation professionals at the London Design Gallery by Great Floors, Denise chose Anatolia Soho in “Biscuit Glossy” and Anatolia Cast Satin Metal Series in “Satin Bronze” clipped with marble for the refined high-contrast look you see here. The beauty of these two together is that they are contrasting both in colour and finish, with a high-gloss white subway tile beside a softer, satin-finish diamond-shaped bronze tile. Even Denise’s pup is enjoying the glamour of the finished design. Photo by Mackenzie Pearce Photography. Here’s a closer look at the texture difference between Anatolia Soho in “Biscuit Glossy” and Anatolia Cast Satin Metal Series in “Satin Bronze” clipped with marble, fitted by Great Floors’ expert installation team. Think Outside the Box! Eye-Catching Tile Installation Designs
Give life and character to classic or plain styles with an updated tile installation – say goodbye to boring grid-patterns and off-set brick layouts, and say hello to chevron, honeycomb, herringbone, and more with our alternative tile installation guide. Chevron & Herringbone A unique installation pattern can transform a cost-effective product into a luxurious, customized feature. “Vertical Herringbone” or “Chevron” patterns turn traditional, basic subway tile into a lovely focal point. In this project the client used Ceragres’ Senio City 3″x 12″ white tiles, installed vertically to achieve this more modern, arrow-like Chevron look. You can also achieve an arrow-like look by overlapping narrow rectangular tiles in a Herringbone pattern. It completely changes the look of the tile & creates something unique for the home owner. In this case, they chose a grout that contrasts nicely with the tile to help the texture pop. High-Contrast Honeycomb Using a contrasting grout with a unique shape of tile or a patterned installation will help to emphasize geometry for a clean, modern look. High-contrast grout makes the tile pop and creates a strong visual interest, like with these black hexagonal tiles installed in a honeycomb pattern with contrasting white grout.A mix of tile colours can also create a high-contrast, custom look – most tile designs will be available in more than one shade at the same price point, making it convenient to mix them. In this case, the designer chose to intersperse black and white hexagonal tiles in a honeycomb pattern in this

2019 Jefferson Industrial Dream Home
As a local business, Great Floors loves participating in projects that empower other local businesses and provide services to the communities that support us. Each Dream Home we take part in is an opportunity to work with some of London’s (and Canada’s!) most established and innovative designers, and this year we were thrilled to work with our dear friend and colleague Jillian Summers of Upstaging Limited. Jillian specializes in design and staging for home sale, and her depth of experience in working with builders, homeowners, and realtors has shaped her timeless and versatile style. For this year’s Dream It Win It lottery Jillian developed and executed three incredible designs, each in a completely different style. Grand Prize Option #1, The Jefferson Industrial Dream Home, is chock full of some of our best and newest products. The sleek, industrial look of this dream home is achieved by emphasizing clean lines, and employing a sophisticated deep, neutral colour palette. Jillian grounded this home’s open gallery quality by allowing textures, light, and natural materials to become points of interest. By using the same tile throughout the main kitchen and living area, Ceragres’ Gesso in “Velvet Black”, Jillian created a strong foundation for the kitchen’s features. She included exposed brick and natural wood textures to accent the clean and stark lines of the cabinetry and appliances, which allows the uniquely beautiful accent lights to elevate and warm the space. The sophisticated weight of dark floors carries through into the den, thanks to another Ceragres tile –
